It's too bulky on me to comfortably hold my baby if needed, but luckily it can be worn one side at a time. You also can not bend forward while wearing since there are open holes at the top which is a problem when you have to reach down to pick up your baby or are trying to complete household tasks. The biggest issue is that the touchscreen would randomly stop working and sometimes it would change the setting on its own going from a level 2 to and 8 which was not pleasant especially when the screen to turn it down freezes at the same time.
Date published: 2024-12-09

Rated 1 out of 5 by jd8192 from VEry bad design, poor product Bought the product under impression of being great as per experience from hospital. My issues with it begin with the fact that it: 1. Has an open spout at the top so you can’t bend over since it doesn’t close. Also makes for storing milk while pumping on the go more complicated since you can’t just keep it in the pumps themselves. 2. The touch screen is so ridiculously sensitive if it brushes against your leg or hits the counter, it might pause or change settings on you. 3. Wasn’t a fan of the wrist strap motor design…kinda takes away from it being hands-free because it’s swinging everywhere and the tubes aren’t that long so if you set it down you’re on a short leash. 4. There are only breast shield sizes available above 21mm, which is actually pretty large. If you need anything smaller, you have to order some 3rd party inserts which in my experience make the pump less effective. 5. Worst of all, it recently started glitching. I’ve only had it for 2 months and it will suddenly stop out of nowhere with full battery and the buttons will become unresponsive. Right now it has full battery but won’t work unless it’s plugged in - which completely defeats the purpose of it being a hands free pump. I will say, my two positives are that, they are easy to clean because of the small amount of parts and, when it is functioning normally, it DOES get milk out pretty effectively. I’d say equivalent to, if not slightly better than a standard Spectra S2 pump which has a large hospital grade motor. I’m hoping I can get a refund or at least replacement or something since it seems to be dying on me after only 2 months of use.
Date published: 2024-10-21

Rated 3 out of 5 by ratko from Missing a very important feature There is no way to lock the touch buttons. This wouldn't be an issue if the pump wasn't marketed as "hands-free" and wearable. With no lock on the buttons it is hardly wearable - they are way too easy to press with any body part, and even trough clothes. My solution is to use an antistatic bag from an old hard drive, it spoils the looks but prevents accidental touches. Or if you haven't bought it yet, just go for the classic Swing Maxi motor, which is a bit heavier, but has actual physical buttons. Also, the bluetooth connectivity is just a gimmick, but sadly that's the age we live in, everything has to be connected and touchscreen. Otherwise the pump is very good and feels solid. If it's as durable as our 10+ year old Swing and the touch buttons don't bother you it's worth the premium price.
Date published: 2024-10-15

Rated 1 out of 5 by LizC from These just spill all your milk everywhere This is like a first draft product at best. No matter what you do milk is always spilling everywhere. I would say I lose between 1 and 2 oz each time. Then I have to mop the floors, change my clothes, and shower. I loved my Spectra but this is definitely one of the worse breast pumps on the market. Please do not buy this. Cup Design 1) The cups don't sit upright on the counter when you take them off - so you set them down they roll over and the milk spills everywhere. 2) If you lean over (even just a bit) while wearing them milk pours out top because of the way the product holes are aligned. So you really can't walk around or pick up the baby. 3) Because of the way it's designed you cannot see if your nipple is in the center of the tube making it impossible to know if it's properly aligned without taking it off and looking at how the machine is shaping your nipple; but if you so much as touch the product milk goes everywhere. Pump Design 1) You're connected to a cord that must be then worn around your wrist - the cord isn't long enough to pull your shirt down over it so you have to be walking around in just a bra to wear it if you're any taller than 5'0". 2) It's a really, really slow pump - in my Spectra I can get 6 oz in about 12 minutes. With this pump it takes about 30 minutes to get 4 oz even on the highest setting. Which compared to the Spectra HURTS. 3) The unit that attaches to your wrist vibrates like crazy to do the pumping. You cannot set it on the counter as it will vibrate itself off the counter which will disconnect the pump and, again, spill milk everywhere. Of all the babies things I have purchased this was the biggest waste of money. I cannot believe Medela is even selling this. The product designers should be embarrassed. There is no way a mom that has pumped before had anything to do with this design. Do not purchase this pump, not only is it wildly expensive, it is all hard plastic making it hurt when pumping - regardless of the flange size. There are other pumps with silicone or soft flanges that are so much more comfortable and don’t feel like you’re putting your nipples in a meat grinder. Next, I purchased this on a Friday leaving the hospital as my baby wouldn’t latch and had a tongue tie. I wanted to “invest” in a good pump and unfortunately there isn’t much of a selection where I live and I couldn’t wait for delivery if ordering online. By the Monday, the pump would start malfunctioning and go from level 3 to level 9 - sending a shockwave to my breasts, causing extreme pain and frustration. This occurred multiple times during a pumping session regardless of if it was on a flat surface or not. As well tried to reset the pump and continued. Additionally, it comes with an adjustable string at the top? Not sure if they expect you to just carry it around on your wrist or what… by Tuesday night the pump sporadically turned on and would not shut off - had to eventually let it die. On top of all of this - called medela and they agreed to send a new one…. After not even two months of use, it just randomly shuts off mid pump. This is extremely frustrating. It will not turn back on unless I plug it back in, everytime. 2. The suction has also started to change during the pump when I’m not increasing or decreasing the levels. 3. The connection from the tube to the motor is NOT secure so it easily disconnects. This is unfortunate because, being marketed as hands-free, you have to be very careful with it so that it doesn’t disconnect. 4. The touch screen would be nice if there was a lock feature. Over one month, my milk volume went down to 1 fluid ounce from 4 fl oz. I’m about to wean because it’s not even worth the one hour I spend pumping at each session. The pump is just not effective or strong enough to draw out the milk. I can hand-express soooo much milk after I’m done pumping, which defeats the purpose of the pump! Other features I dislike — the buttons on the pump are touch-activated, like a smartphone. If I put the pump in my pocket or carry it around on my wrist and it accidentally bumps into something, the pump turns off or switches to the stimulation setting. So I can’t even benefit from the hands-free feature because the buttons are so sensitive. I would prefer actual buttons that I have to press. The buttons light up and are too bright. I do some of my pumping at night and I don’t need the glare shining in my face. The charge on the battery runs out quickly (after two hours of use). The cups have a rim that is shaped like an accordion and are starting to grow mold in places that I cannot reach to clean. One side is better at drawing out milk than the other. My left side used to be my good boob with more milk than my right, but now I get less milk from that side. It actually has caused me to become engorged when trying to use it. So I now have to use my Medela manual pump and Hakka to express milk which allows me to express a lot of milk. This helps but is so time consuming and inconvenient because I am exclusively breastfeeding. I have checked all the pump parts but still not working effectively. I really regret buying this product and wouldn’t recommend at all. I am very disappointed.
Date published: 2023-11-24

Rated 1 out of 5 by Gaby T from The opposite of freestyle I’ve been using this pump for three months now and absolutely hate it. I have twins and a three year old and early on it allowed me to get those extra pumping sessions in to keep up my milk supply for my twins while also getting to spend time with the older kid. Now I take this pump everywhere, especially now that I'm back to traveling for work (my twins are a year). I've pumped while driving my minivan (peak mom moment!), on planes, in the park, at restaurants, in the theatre, the subway, on the beach, on the Chicago Architecture boat tour. It would probably be easier to say places I haven't pumped. I'm pretty shameless, or rather, I'm normalizing pumping/breastfeeding moms, right?! But seriously, I definitely wouldn't have the milk supply I have today that (mostly) supports my twins if I didn't have this pump. I have the Medela Symphony, which was a dream for my first but you're tied to the wall, which for a second/third time mom is impossible. My two babes are a chunky 25 lbs each because of this pump! The only feedback would be that it would be helpful to have a plug or cover over the holes at the top (where the milk pours out) so milk doesn't come out the top when you bend over, or move quickly, or once you're done pumping (and poured the milk out into a container) to keep the residue from leaking out. But definitely get this pump if you are a second time mom or have twins, it will save your milk supply!!!
Date published: 2023-11-13

Rated 4 out of 5 by AlexEss from Great for all around Pros 1. Parts are easy to clean 2. Can be charged while in use 3. Easy to stop mid pump to empty containers and continue pumping. 4. Easy to empty 5. It is very quiet, or I don't notice it because it is in my pocket. 6. IT USES A TYPE C CHARGER!! No one wants to have to carry around a different charger just for the pump. And then if you lose the original, you have to order a new one and wait for it to come. You can just go out and buy a new charger Cons 1. The start stop buttons are touch activated so when I put it in my pocket, I turn it off sometimes. 2. Let down is not as strong but I still pump the same amount, it just takes a little longer. 3. I'm tall, so the tubing is barely long enough to put the device in my pocket. Maybe medela can make a holster for me, until then, I think my backpack purse might work pretty good. :)
Date published: 2023-11-03

Rated 1 out of 5 by Sq2023 from Tube seal wears down This worked great for the first 3 weeks, and then the seal for the tube connected to the pump wore down and now does not pump.
