As a Mom of twins, my hands are literally full! I rely on having an efficient breast pump that will maximize my output (I have two little mouths to feed) in the shortest amount of time, while maintaining comfort and freedom to help my busy twins. The Medela Freestyle Hands Free Double Electric Breast Pump does just that! It is a portable and discreet breast pump that can be easily placed into any bra that I am wearing and can begin pumping. No need to change into a specific pumping bra or wondering where your pumping bra is! Some of my favourite features of this pump include the ease of use, comfort, long battery life, ease of pour and of course being hands free! I appreciate the comfort of the suction compared to other hands free options on the market that have actually left me with skin peeling. The Medela Freestyle Hands Free Double Electric Breast Pump has a strong suction but also quite comfortable that allows for long pumping sessions in comfort. The long battery life has been beneficial while travelling. I pump twice a day and was able to last an entire week on vacation on a single charge. When pouring the milk from the collection cups to the bottles it is easy and straight forward. I have used other hands free pumps where the collection cups were hard to pour and created a lot of spills which lead to milk loss&hellip; not what you want to see after a pump session #liquidgold. My favourite feature is how discreet you can be when using this hands free pump. I was able to sit in a restaurant while using this pump and be comfortable. No one stared as they had no idea I was even pumping&hellip;no one could even tell with my shirt on. There are a few areas that I believe could be improved upon including a wider selection of flange sizes. Medela currently only has 2 options (21 mm and 24 mm) options. I think a smaller size would benefit a lot of women who are looking at this hands free option. In addition, the power bank is quite large (same size as the Medela Freestyle Flex power bank). It does have an option to have a strap around your wrist or my personal move is putting it into a pocket or fanny pack around the waist to carry around when you are busy (there are options). If the power bank was smaller this would allow for improved hands free functioning. The large flanges and collection cups do take up a lot of space in my countertop sterilizer and the microwaveable steam bags so it does require an extra microwave or run of my sterilizer compared to other pumping parts. Overall the Freestyle Hands Free Double Electric Breast Pump is a great choice for Moms who don&rsquo;t have the time to sit and be strapped to a pump, Moms who are on the go and Moms who need their hands at all times (I think that&rsquo;s all Moms!). If you&rsquo;re looking for a pump that is comfortable, discreet and will get the job done&mdash; this pump is for you! I have used other pumps before but the freestyle handsfree double breast pump is by far my favourite one to use. The pump was very easy to initially set up and connect to the app to track my pumping sessions.The convenience of being able to do other things wile pumping was a game changer for me. I have a toddler and 5 month old, this pump allowed me to play with my toddler, clean my house and get ready for the day while pumping. The suction is comparable to my plug in pump (Medela- Instyle) and better than other handsfree pumps I have tried. The cups are a reasonable size for me, I typically pump 4-6oz per side per pump. I used this pump several times around other moms and they all commented on how quiet it was, which allows for discreet pumping sessions. My favourite feature was the snap closure, even in my tired stupor I always knew the cups were sealed properly because there is an audible click when you put the cups together. When on the go I just tucked the pump in my hoodie pocket, it does have a string but I found it to be a bit of an awkward length. This pump makes is so easy to use while managing two 6 month old babies &amp; a 2.5 year old. Pros: - Does NOT leak!! This is so important when moving around, I am not one that can sit still and ensuring my milk doesn&rsquo;t go to waste is so important. - only three pieces! I cannot express how amazing only having three pieces to clean and to put back together is! - so light weight and compact, hardly feels like I am wearing a pump and allows me to still hold my babies if needed without them pulling on tubing or grabbing the pumps - super discreet, I can pump wearing any shirts and the cups fit in all my nursing bras. My chest definitely looks bigger but it is easily hidden, allows me to still have some privacy, which means I can pump while on a walk or grocery shopping. - it stands on its own. I can set the cups down with milk in them and they won&rsquo;t fall over. Cons: - it&rsquo;s a little hard to see that your nipple is properly in the flange, it is something after time that gets easier and a mirror helps so you can see how to line it up correctly - still has tubing and a separate pump motor, this does make for a better and consistent motor but it&rsquo;s still another piece to carry around. When needing to clean the pump and it's parts after use, it was much easier than previous pumps I had tried. The parts to take apart were minimal and washed easily. I was able to put everything back together, once dry, quickly and have it ready to go for my next pumping session. The hands free control had user friendly controls and the screen lit up well to see if I had to pump in the dark. The only downfall, for me, was the controller only had a wristlet to use. I would have preferred to have a clip on it to attached to a belt or pocket to make it truly hands free. The 9 levels of suction was great as well The cups were a good discreet size but the tubes that connect to it made it not so discreet. I could use the pump anywhere I wanted but I also found carrying the pump around a little annoying. I would have preferred something attached to the cups. It was also very loud. I wasn&rsquo;t able to really go around and do much with this pump. I tried to vacuum and do simple things like use my printer but unfortunately the pump &ldquo;pack&rdquo; got in the way. I could get up move from room to room, not being attached to an outlet was nice but getting chores and things around the house done weren&rsquo;t as easy as I hoped. Another thing I found a little frustrating was the holes on top. Maybe something to cover that would be nice so I can put them down without worrying about the cup falling over and spilling all the milk. It happened to me once and I was not impressed. Overall, I will continue to use this pump. The pump was comfortable and the suction was really good. I appreciate the 9 levels but I wish the pump itself was a little smaller. As a second time parent, I am well into my nursing/pumping journey and have used three different pumps so far. I really liked that this pump is easy to travel with. There are minimal parts which means it's less likely you'll forget something! Although it's handy to bring with you, it's still really obvious that you're pumping. The shells stick out really far so it's not discreet. However it's really nice to get something hands free without an extra bra, and because they fit into your bra they don't get caught on things or risk falling off. It's designed to hold about 5 Oz of milk per side. I ended up overflowing one time because it's hard to judge how much is coming out when you're pumping. The plastic fogs up so you can't clearly see your nipple placement. I wish there was a better method of viewing output while you're pumping. That being said, I loved how easy it was to pour the milk out after pumping. The design is great! The pump parts are really easy to clean and have large enough components that you don't worry about milk getting stuck in a nook or cranny. I wish the electronic unit itself had some sort of way to lock it. I kept hitting buttons accidentally while doing other things. Important to note - the pump is only designed to work for 250 hours. With my first child I pumped upon my return to work when he was 6 months and whike I had a good pump then this Medela handsfree is a HUGE improvement in terms of ease of use, setup and cleaning. I tidied the kitchen, did laundry, carried my baby and generally continued along with my day while pumping. I would caveat this review by stating that I only pump occasionally with my current baby so I can't speak to long term efficacy. I am not pumping to exclusively feed but rather so that I have a small stash for when someone else watches my baby. With that caveat, the handsfree seemed to be quite effective and I got the same.amount of milk as with my more traditional pump. The pump was also extremely easy to clean and set up - this is definitely going to be my go to travel pump from now on! The only downside of this pump is that the screen is quite responsive so it sometimes changed modes when it brushed against something else. I'd love a lock screen function but with everything else on offer this is a small quibble. I could never do that with my bulky pump and bottles before. I am able to move around freely with this pump. I even save time and can pump while driving, it is that easy and discreet. I would have never pumped in the car with massive bottles hanging off my chest before. This pump has a strong pull but doesn&rsquo;t hurt or rub on your nipples. The cup capacity was also large enough to collect express milk and the transfer was even better, &ldquo;no crying over spilled milk&rdquo;. Very easy and spill proof transfer to a bottle. I have very large breasts now, so the only thing that I would change would be the shape of the cups, my boobs would kind of spill over the smaller size but overall, not a big deal and didn&rsquo;t affect any pumping ability. The pump parts were easy to clean, dried quickly and the click made it foolproof that is was back together properly. I am very happy with this pump, the power and overall look. I don&rsquo;t mind pumping in front of people and now I don&rsquo;t need to hide out in a room to get a very common thing done. I found it took twice the time to collect the same volume of milk as other Medela pumps. This may be a deterring factor for someone looking to express quickly or for someone exclusively pumping. The pump is also Bluetooth equipped to run off an app, however I found the app to glitch and was not something I had time to play around with. The pump works just fine without using the app. It also has only a few pieces that need to be washed / sterilized, making the cleaning portion quick as well. I already own the Medela Freestyle Flex Double Electric Pump but I was looking to try something more hands free to encourage me to start pumping a little more to build my freezer stash. I must say, I do love the fact that this pump fits easily into any nursing bra and is super compact. I also LOVE that there are only 3 parts to clean, makes it incredibly easy and fits nicely into my sanitizer which is another bonus. I unfortunately don&rsquo;t think it is as strong as the Freestyle Flex pump when it comes to extracting all of the milk from my breasts; if there were a few more higher levels it might do the trick! I was also a bit disappointed that it isn&rsquo;t 100% hands free. It still does come with that little battery system like the freestyle flex, so that part is still being carried around on your wrist or pocket and is sometimes a bit challenging. Cons: The pump is connected to an external pump which vibrates the entire time and has to be put into your pocket, it shut off the first time I put it in my pocket, it would be better if we could lock the screen. It&rsquo;s not too loud and the sound doesn&rsquo;t wake baby. Would love if it had a carrying case but fits nicely into my diaper bag. I tried not too move too much to avoid getting milk in the tubing but I was able to wash dishes. Overall I&rsquo;m very impressed and will only use this pump only moving forward. Since I received it I have been pumping much more because it is truly a hands free experience. I love that I can tuck it into my nursing bra and not have bottles attached to me. It's very discrete. I wear my sweater over it and you can not tell that I'm wearing it. I also sometimes pump only one breast while I nurse in the opossite breast to help with milk production because I lm guilty of nursing on the same side majority of the time. The suction is strong, it has 9 levels and I usually use the strongest suction. It's very easy to clean and there aren't tiny parts which I love. I use it usually while I'm doing errands like cooking dinner or washing dishes. I bring it everywhere if I know I'm going to be out for hours. I have even used it in the car. This definitely has made pumping easier for me because I don't have to schedule time to sit down in my day. I'm going to use it when I go back to work . I'm thinking I can pump in the car on my way home too which is amazing. I do not find the pump to be quiet. I find it just as loud as any regular pump. There is an app that you can connect to the pump and track how much milk you pump and how long you pump for as well . The freestyle flex came highly recommended by our lactation consultant and I have found both it and this new hands free version to be of good quality, easy to use and quite effective. This hands free pump is easier to clean and doesn&rsquo;t require a bottle brush as it&rsquo;s three simple pieces that come apart easily. It is fairly discreet (you just look quite busty while wearing it) and It&rsquo;s great not having to wear a pumping bra as it just tucks right into any bra. That said it isn&rsquo;t as great as I had hoped for multitasking. There are holes at the top of the cups to pour out the milk and so when you lean over when wearing it, to pick up your baby for example milk spills out everywhere. Having a way to close those while pumping would be a game changer! The cups are also quite tippy when set on the counter so you may often find yourself crying over spilled milk. Overall I like the Medela freestyle pumps and would recommend this over the original freestyle flex because it does afford you somewhat more freedom but it doesn&rsquo;t really let you get on with certain things, like caring for your babe how I had hoped. A hands free which is a solution for any mom, since we are wanting to be able to multitask. I would definitely say it was super effective on getting milk. Even putting it up to the highest level for pumping it&rsquo;s not painful at all. A couple things I would say is while it is discreet it does seem like the suction could be stronger or your milk will spill or not make it into the cups. The cups still need some support to stay in place. Or possibly just use a stronger bra to hold them in place. The battery life on the pump is not as good as I thought. Doesn&rsquo;t last the longest and I only pump a couple times a day. So for someone that&rsquo;s an exclusive pumper be mindful of that. Although the pump battery doesn&rsquo;t last long, it does charge super fast. The one thing that matters the most to me is enduring no milk goes to waste. Unfortunately this pump has a little bit of spillage. The instructions show to leave forward when ur finishing up so all the mill can go down into the cups, but even doing that I still had milk get wasted since it didn&rsquo;t make it into the cup. I had to pour the milk from the flange first. And then pour the rest out through the top. Little bit of a nuisance. The other thing to note is you NEED to make sure you flanges click into the cup. If not they will pop off and that could get messy. Overall the pump is decent and the fact you can pump AND do things like wash dishes or clean up is a HUGE plus. You always want that as a mom. Huge bonus was that this pump came with 2 sizes for breast shields 24mm and 21mm. Most pumps only come with the standard 24mm and you will have to order from the company which delays starting your pumping journey. Another bonus to this pump is that it&rsquo;s actually comfortable to wear. I have larger breasts and this is the best fit that I&rsquo;ve had in a pump. There is also the added feature that is the Medela app that helps track your pumping sessions, taking inventory of milk you are freezing and so much more. The pump was all touch screen and pretty easy to use. Make sure to read the instruction manual first as it gives you pointers for how best to use the pump. Highly recommend using the pump with the app. Downside to the pump&hellip; it&rsquo;s not completely hands free. The actual pump part is attached via the tubes that are clipped into the cups. It comes with a cord to attach around your wrist but I found it too heavy to do that. Instead I opted to wear a sweater with pockets so that I could have the pump in there. So NOT hands free. Another minus is that to shut off the pump you have be using the app. There is no display option on the pump to shut it off from there. However if you need to stop it fast you can still turn off the pump manually on the side of the pump control. It however was great to use around the house while cleaning or light playing with your little one. Though would not be comfortable using it outside the house as you can clearly tell you are pumping when it&rsquo;s on. There was nothing holding me back once I got this pump. Right from the get go, it&rsquo;s easy to set up and to connect to the app. Once charged, I found battery lasted for about 8 approximately 15 minute sessions. It fits in a regular nursing bra (and even in a couple regular ones) and while you&rsquo;re pumping you can stick the unit in your pocket and go about doing regular things. For me, this was so important. I don&rsquo;t have the time to sit somewhere and be hooked up to a machine. While using this pump I cooked dinner, emptied the dishwasher, did my hair; I pumped in a waiting area while my older child was in surgery, I played with my toddler, and sometimes I just sat on the couch with a cup of tea. The convenience of that is impossible to beat in my opinion. You can just pack it up, and take it wherever. Another thing I loved was the comfort of it. In my previous experiences with pumping, I always found it hurt a bit or at the very best was uncomfortable. With the letdown function on this pump, you maximize your output but you don&rsquo;t sacrifice comfort in the least. I&rsquo;d forget I was wearing it sometimes while pumping 3 or 4 oz per side. Cleaning is also a breeze. The instructions were clear on how best to clean it. I found washing it with hot water during the day and then tossing all washable components in the dishwasher at night was the most effective method. All parts still look like new and show no wear and tear. My one, and only, complaint is that the cups don&rsquo;t stand that well on their own. I found them somewhat tippy especially if the tubes were still connected. Easiest remedy for that was to empty them as soon as I was done pumping. If you&rsquo;re scared or intimidated to try pumping, this unit will ease you in to it. I have now used three different Medela pumps - the hands free, the manual, and the symphony. The hands free has been my favourite of the three. It is almost as compact and portable as the manual pump, but draws out a volume similar to the symphony (which was great for establishing my milk supply early on, but not exactly the most discreet or easy to travel with!). The pump is easy to put together and use, and easy to clean. I love how I can wear it and play with my son, or make a morning coffee! I use this pump to help with excess milk in the morning, and it expresses 5-6oz after a feed, which for me is great. It&rsquo;s an easy way to ensure one bottle feed a day for my otherwise exclusively breastfed son. The only drawbacks I have found so far are that I cannot register my phone number with the app and so have not been able to use that service. This is low concern for me using it only once a day but I could see it being frustrating for those exclusively pumping. Other than that, I sometimes find the seals to appear complete but then when starting to pump I can clearly see they aren&rsquo;t. Kudos to the see through design to help the user diagnose that problem when starting the pump, and also to keep any eye on what is being expressed. That said, when I received this breast pump from the Stellar Product Testing Panel, I was actually excited to try it out. The Medela freestyle hands free was too enticing not to be excited. I loved being able to use it in the car on my way to a girl&rsquo;s night and I loved how easy it was to set up. It slipped easily into my purse, weighing next to nothing and didn&rsquo;t require a separate pumping bra. Instead the collection cups slipped right into my nursing bras, making it easy to use when doing chores and discreet to use when out with friends. I also enjoyed how quiet the pump was for those social gatherings and how simple the pump was for quick cleaning, especially when out and about. I would probably still use my traditional pump for exclusive pumping or dealing with a clogged duct or engorgement so that I could do more manual manipulation.
