Once hooked up, you can access the camera from any location. You don't have to be on the same Wi-fi. This is our second baby and we've been through a few monitors and I can honestly say the quality of the Miku Pro exceeds my expectations! First of all, opening the box/packaging felt so luxurious and like true quality. Set up was SO easy and it literally came with everything you need down to the pencil, lol. The picture quality is phenomenal, and I love that I can see his breathing ON the screen while the video is on. Also, if I leave the app, I can chose to still hear the audio in the background while I'm using other apps. AND if I'm logged onto multiple devices at the same time (AKA me and dad watching on both of our phones with the same login) it won't kick you off when another user logs in. Some monitors have a little lag time but this one is immediate if not within 1-2 seconds. All in all, I have so much peace of mind with this monitor and I'm so thankful I found it!! The extra features of enhanced night vision, sound machine, temperature, movement detector, etc. are all great. However, a note that the live breathing feature doesn't seem to work. It will show breathing tracking when the baby isn't even in the crib, and the readings fluctuate strangely / don't make sense. I thought it was very thoughtful of the company to send these extra pieces because it felt like they knew once I opened the box I was going to start setting it up and placing it on my wall. My wife and I navigated through the app and found the app very easy to use (I even pranked my wife and my cat using the microphone option). We really liked that we get notifications on our phones when our baby is sleeping/ falling asleep/ waking up/ and noise detector. Another plus is having the monitor read the temperature (our house gets really cold). The camera works wonders great quality both in the day and night time.
