The quick release is amazing. However, the install is tricky. The spacers and brackets do not slide together easily. We had to use multiple people's strength to get 2 spacers apart. My only complaint after install is that the gate creaks when we open/close it. It has locks to keep from sliding and can only slide into certain widths. Also, ensure you have no obstructions such as trim or railing above the hinge or latch area since it installs by sliding down from the top. The gate is designed to swing one way, and will only swing out over stairs to a 45 degree angle. The gate is well built. We use to keep dogs down or upstairs&mdash;they broke the wood gates so give this being metal it should hold up better. I do like the ease of working the latch with one hand and just pulling the gate closed it auto latches. Wish the hinges were metal and latch instead of plastic&mdash; especially at this high price point. I had to shim out hinge side due to trim above and drill holes in side where rail is since it blocked sliding down from top. Circled areas in red are the sliding locks, we left them unlocked so we can collapse gate when we open. Note if this for a child these should be locked since they may slide it open when latched. First gate had multiple scratches and the hinge would bind when opening gate. They sent me a replacement that had the same exact issues, scratches and binding hinge. One even had sharp metal near the edge where my child would grab. Both were from the same production lot. I asked for another replacement but only if from a different lot number.
