The twins eat differently then each other, one prefers a slower nipple and the other faster; before, I'd have to label which nipple was for which baby - it was a lot of work/time consuming and sometimes the twins would accidentally get the wrong nipple leading to frustration on everyone part. The variable nipple takes care of that and is able to accommodate both babies easily. The twins took the nipple easily. These nipples did not collapse allowing for uninterrupted feeding, as well. Another big perk! Another perk - less gas. The twins used to get very bad gas after eating and that seems to have gone away after switching bottles. I have been using a different brand of bottle to help with my son's difficulty with gas. I was not expecting such positive results from the Avent bottle and nipples. My son did not experience an increase in gas when I trialed the Avent bottle. Although the nipple shape is different, than the nipples he was using previously, he adjusted almost immediately. The most wonderful thing about the Avent bottle is how easy it is to clean. No more need for different sized bottle brushes to clean multiple bottle parts. I wish I had tried these first as it would have saved me so much money. It was so simple to figure out how to use it and the fact that it was all one easy to use piece (for the bottle) was a great added bonus. My daughter is normally breastfed, but took to the bottle really easily. She did best with the slowest flow option, but I think that if she were using bottles full-time, she would have done well with the higher flow rates. Either way, it's a great to have all the options on one nipple - it cuts down on cost and stress and makes it easier when you need to go up in flow rate due to a bigger baby or needing to add rice cereal (or a similar situation). The bottle did seem to help relieve some of the gassiness, discomfort, and spit up my daughter experiences due to reflux. My only complaint is that when assembling the bottle, sometimes the inner part would fold over a little, making it less effective. But that was a simple user error. Explaining how to use the bottle to others who are taking care of the baby might be a little tedious, but once you understand how it works, it's super easy and I think having to give explanations wouldn't be a constant struggle - just a one time minor inconvenience. Overall, I really liked this bottle and the variable flow nipples. My daughter doesn&rsquo;t normally care for bottles, but she drank 2 ounces of milk from this one! We were able to turn the bottle and change the flow when she got frustrated or seemed to be having trouble. It was nice to be able to switch the flow so easily and without making a mess! I plan to use these for every feeding now! It also helped with gas and gagging during eating. She usually only nurses, but we needed to find something for daycare. I think this is it! Well, unfortunately these didn't work well for our family. My babies are 8 weeks old, but they are also twins that were born 3 weeks early. They had tongue and lip ties that were corrected before 3 weeks old. We breast feed but also need to give bottles for some extra calories. The flow rate was too fast even in the slow #1 side. The milk just poured out of my babies mouths'. We even feed them the way they do in the NICU: side lying with the bottle flat so the nipple was only half full. I have used other Avent nipples and these nipples have the same good quality. It is super helpful to have a nipple that has three flow rates therefore you don't have to buy a ton of nipples and have a ton stored away in the kitchen either. Win-win right! Just line up the number that correlates with the flow you would like to use, with the babies nose. The compression (top and bottom) opens the hole differently depending on that placement in the babies mouth. I don't think my babies had any colic or gas problems but these nipples didn't help since we weren't able to do a full feed to test them out anyway. How did I go my whole mom of babies career not knowing about a variable flow nipple. Love that we can try all flows without having to switch out nipples. This anit-colic/gas preventing bottle is among the best that I've yet to try. Pros: Nipple design is on point. My almost exclusively breastfed baby took it like a champ. The bottle design isn't over complicated with tons of extra parts (a huge plus when it comes to doing the dishes) Really performs and helped in preventing my baby who is typically gassy after a bottle feed. Love that the milk stays in the nipple when tilted allowing baby to sit up right and not suck on all air. The only con I can think of is that the bottle has to be held a certain way in order to vent properly. Which would need to be explained to a caregiver ( which can be easily forgotten or overlooked) In the future it would be amazing to create the vent that vents 360&deg; around. Overall my little picky breastfeeder loved the bottle and I loved that she didn't get a tummy ache from it. Win win. (One other note: my daughter is 7 months and has a mild tounge tie, which has made it tricky to find a bottle she could properly latch onto.
