My issues are that it doesn't account for baseboards on the wall side - as this impedes it from sitting flush with the wall. We placed ours above the baseboard but it made it incredibly tricky to level and accurately place the side along the banister. Now there is an obvious gap at the base, which would be fine if the supporting &quot;leg&quot; for the gate was long enough to reach the floor - it isn't so the gate now gets be left open at all or it'll put too much pressure on the hinges. As for shutting the gate - no issues! Opening the gate however is a nightmare - I need two hands to do it and when coming up from the bottom of the stairs with a newborn this is a huge problem.
