She is used to her bottles for everything so this was new for both of us. She was able to handle it instantly, it was easy for her to grip each side. I really like how you press the button and the top flips open. She had fun using that feature too and I like how secure it is. She started with little sips to bigger ones in no time. It was a big step for her and I was so excited! There hasn't been any leakage even when it falls down or is tossed around. It's easy to take apart to clean and put back together. I had gotten my hopes up, so I went and purchased one so that I could still write something about it. Our daughter was premature, and has had developmental delays. She hasn't really picked up on other straw type cups, so I wasn't wholly convinced she would be ready for this. She sure surprised me! The cup was easy for her to hold, and it only took her a couple tries to get her water out. Between the excitement from us and the reward of getting a drink, she was thrilled too. Initially, I couldnt understand the purpose of the weighted straw until I noticed that baby tilts the bottle here and there and the straw goes down to wherever water is so the flexible straw draws out the water wherever its mostly pooled. One thing I noticed tho is that there are times a pressure is built up inside the cup and upon releasing the flap/open, without sucking into the straw, water goes up the straw as if being siphoned, causing spills. Lid is secure and doesn&rsquo;t leak which is always a plus. This has been the only cup that they will actually drink from and not just take a small sip here and there. I have not noticed any leaks other than the normal small amount that comes out of the top of the straw as in all cups like this. The only thing I wish is that I could buy another one right now so each twin has one, but they are not available for sale as of yet.
