It has many great features you didn't know you needed. Unboxing... Opening the box you will find 2 power cords, the camera, the small screen, the mount, screws and the instructions. I went ahead and plugged it all up. The video screen already had 3 bars of charge but I still plugged it in to fully charge. Starting it up... Once on, I went through the options on the screen and I was able to set it up within a few minutes. It was very easy for me. You don't even need to plug into wifi unless you want to see recordings on your phone. But if not, at this point you are all set up. The image is VERY clear on the 5&quot; screen. Once fully charged you're able to unplug the screen and carry it with you throughout the house. At this point you can mount the camera where you want. Extras options... The camera itself has a built in night light with 3 different color options. It also have an option to play different lullaby songs for the baby. It also has a 2 way talk option. So if you're anywhere else in the house, you're able to talk to your baby. Also has a temperature sensor. All these options and extras can be managed through the portable screen. Overall, this is a great baby monitor. First, I love that I can use it without Wi-Fi or with. I typically use it without Wi-Fi, but it&rsquo;s nice to know I can access the monitor from my phone if needed. I also love the clarity and size of the screen. The color is awesome and just as amazing when it&rsquo;s in night vision. This camera and monitor has so many additional settings that I never knew I needed. The motion sensor is spot-on and can alerts you the moment there&rsquo;s motion. There&rsquo;s a night-light with three light settings and the camera doubles as a sound machine with several music/sounds to choose from - with a timer! There&rsquo;s also a sound detection and temperature alert feature. I don&rsquo;t find the temperature feature to be very accurate though, it seems to read lower than the actual temperature of the room and fluctuates greatly, my house will be at 74 and the temperature reads between 65-68. While the motion sensor is very accurate the image on the monitor is delayed, which isn&rsquo;t a big deal, but can be annoying. I also hate that I can&rsquo;t adjust the camera with the monitor, it has to be done manually. The camera also only adjusts up and down, not side to side. You can scan the room with a little push of a button you can also zoom in and out to get that close up of your little one. It has great reception from the yard to the kitchen it has 110 degrees wide angle viewing so you can scan the room when you get alerted that it picked up a noise. Out of the box, the Wifi is disabled, and the parent and baby units communicate on a closed loop at 2.4GHz Frequency Hoping Spread Spectrum (FHSS). From the parent unit, you can (optionally) enable the Wifi. This involves that you connect to your LAN via the parent unit, then type in the LAN password, and this will add the Camera (Baby unit) to the LAN. Then you need to download the Free MyVTech App from the App store, and install this on every smart device you wish to be able to access the Audio/Video Feed. Lastly, you will be prompted to set up a Password protected account online, that each smart device must type in the password to access. Up to 8 smart devices (iPhone, Android phone, tablets) can access this password protected account at a time. At any time, WIFI can be toggled back to OFF from the Parent unit, and all the smart devices will go dark, until the toggle is reinstated to ON via the parent unit. You control who with the password, and you control when with the parent unit toggle On/Off. The closed loop is always active between the parent unit and the baby unit, unless you enable Sound Activation mode, and then the screen sleeps when no sound is detected for 50 seconds to save battery life.
