VTech always comes through, and we are big fans of this brand. The app is a great feature and is straightforward and easy to use. Installation and setting up the monitor was easy- the instructions were very simple to follow. The picture is clear, and there are extra features like music, nightlight, temperature sensor, alerts when the baby moves, and being able to talk to your baby through it. (It&rsquo;s also easy to turn some of these features OFF if you don&rsquo;t want to use them) You can zoom in on the picture which some other monitors don&rsquo;t have. The versatility options come in handy when we have a babysitter watching our kids - I LOVE that I can still check in on the baby with the app all while the sitter still has a physical monitor to use. It&rsquo;s also super common for my baby to move around and talk in her sleep so I love that you can personalize the sensitivity setting in the hopes that you don&rsquo;t wake up to her every noise during the night. This monitor has the best connection of any baby camera system I&rsquo;ve ever used. With the monitor being connected to wifi, I can go outside (far out from range of the camera itself) with no issues. If we plug/unplug the camera to reset (power button doesnt seem to work), it will connect for all of 2 minutes again beforw losing connection. Best part? Because we recieved it so early, by the time it quit working the warranty period was already done. When we replaced it with this one a few months ago, we have had NON STOP problems. I assumed that because it was pretty much the same product, it would be just as good - but no. Just yesterday during my child's nap, I had to unplug and plug the camera back in SEVEN times in one hour to reconnect the monitor to the camera. And no, it's not connected to our WiFi so it is not an issue with our internet connectivity. There are so many things that I love about it. I love the screen size. I can see what I need to see clearly. I love the two way talk feature. When you use it during the toddler years, this becomes very handy instead of always going in and out of the room to soothe our little one. The access from your device makes being a working parent much more comforting, as you can see what your little one is up to while you aren't able to be home with them. It also can help you keep your baby safe from potential harm or neglect at the hands of a caretaker. The camera has a night light, which is a must. There are lullabies that you can play. That is a take-it-or-leave-it feature for me personally. The temp sensor is also a must have feature. It can help us ensure our child sleeps comfortably. Night vision is a standard must have nowadays. Extremely simple to setup and hooked up to our wifi in just a few mins. The video monitors screen size is large and images are very clear. You can tilt and rotate the camera from the monitor itself, it will play music, and gives you a temperature of the room. Given the large size of the monitors screen is about the same weight as my cell phone. It also has standard features such as night vision, a mic to communicate, or pre installed lullaby. There is also mobile app you can install that will allow you to view the camera on phone or tablet. A great feature is that you can take screen shots or video with your phone. The camera is controllable through the app and the monitors unit. In the future I could see us using this to keep an eye on things when we have a sitter. Out of the box, the Wifi is disabled, and the parent and baby units communicate on a closed loop at 2.4GHz Frequency Hoping Spread Spectrum (FHSS). From the parent unit, you can (optionally) enable the Wifi. This involves that you connect to your LAN via the parent unit, then type in the LAN password, and this will add the Camera (Baby unit) to the LAN. Then you need to download the Free MyVTech App from the App store, and install this on every smart device you wish to be able to access the Audio/Video Feed. Lastly, you will be prompted to set up a Password protected account online, that each smart device must type in the password to access. Up to 8 smart devices (iPhone, Android phone, tablets) can access this password protected account at a time. At any time, WIFI can be toggled back to OFF from the Parent unit, and all the smart devices will go dark, until the toggle is reinstated to ON via the parent unit. You control who with the password, and you control when with the parent unit toggle On/Off. The closed loop is always active between the parent unit and the baby unit, unless you enable Sound Activation mode, and then the screen sleeps when no sound is detected for 50 seconds to save battery life. For example, if you have Voice Activation Enabled, the screen goes off after 50 seconds of continual silence (as defined by the sound threshold level you set in the config). The longer the screen is active, the more drain on the battery than when it&#39;s in Standby mode.
