There was also the option to have it shut off after an hour, which I found was an ideal amount of time. Sadly, it has not lasted us a year because the charging port came out with the charger one day after charging, after simply trying to gently pull the charging pin out. If VTech could find a way to correct this issue - that I now know is quite common with this machine - they'd have way more satisfied customers. It's helped a decent amount with his sleep but there are enough negatives that I wouldn't recommend this product. I've only used the white noise function on it. The y white noise is on a loop and there is a jump when the loop finishes and restarts. This often wakes up my little one when he is just falling to sleep, or is nearing the end of a sleep cycle. I don't find it gets loud enough. And the battery life never lasts through the night. It's great that it is rechargeable so I don't have to worry about batteries or plugging it in. I don't mind having to use my own outlet plug (I use my iPhone's charger) but I do wish the cord was a little longer. I had planned using it as a light for breastfeeding and nighttime diaper changes but it's not bright enough for either. It is good for a little light especially during nighttime car rides.
